Schizoid PD is marked by reptilian emotional coldness, detachment, and escape from real people into a cozy world of dreams and fantasies. Schizoids are frightened by the real world and the “dangerous” people within it, so they spend every moment of their lives in a shelter — an imagined reality they have created. This inner world feels safer, warmer, brighter, and more attractive than the gray, dull, dangerous real world with cruel people who supposedly want of “consuming” the schizoid.
